Tom liked his classmate, Anna.

Tom mochte seine Klassenkameradin Anna.

He thought she was nice and pretty.

Er fand sie nett und hĂĽbsch.

One day after school, Tom asked Anna a question.

Eines Tages nach der Schule stellte Tom Anna eine Frage.

"Do you want to go to the cinema with me?" he said.

"Möchtest du mit mir ins Kino gehen?", sagte er.

Anna felt a little sad.

Anna fĂĽhlte sich ein wenig traurig.

She liked Tom as a friend, but not as a boyfriend.

Sie mochte Tom als Freund, aber nicht als Freund.

She did not want to hurt his feelings.

Anna looked at Tom and smiled kindly.

"Thank you, Tom," she said.

"You are a good friend, but you are not my type."

"I don't want to go out with you."

Tom was disappointed at first.

Tom war zunächst enttäuscht.

But he understood her honesty.

They stayed friends and talked the next day.
